January President's Report

It has been an honour to have been selected as President of the ACCI at our last Executive meeting. There have been a few other changes on the Executive Committee with Russell Hare being selected as Vice President due to Rebecca Williss taking a leave of absence to have a baby and Kerry Fry replacing me as Treasurer. 2019 is going to be a transformative year for the Chamber. As members, you have a dedicated Executive Committee representing you and we are looking forward to the challenge.

I would like to thank Caroline Hayes for her hard work in her two years as President and wish her well in her future endeavours.

We have been working on our strategic review of the Chamber and are on track to finalise that review by the end of January 2019. As part of this process we have conducted a member survey, reviewed other Chamber models, held a well attended member’s forum and met with several of our key stakeholders. A summary document of information gathered including our next steps has been emailed to members, please contact the Chamber if you have not received a copy and wish to view it.

Members will be given further opportunity to provide input to the strategic plan recommendations once worked through by the Executive Committee.

We have also been working on a revised membership structure to allow you to customise your membership benefits. More information on this will be released soon.

One thing is clear; in 2019 the ACCI will be a powerful advocate and important information resource for your business. The business landscape is changing rapidly in most industries and the Chamber is here to help you adapt and also ensure that any regulatory changes do not negatively affect our local businesses. We will be engaging with members regularly to ensure that we are representing you in the areas that will bring you the greatest benefit. The Chamber door is always open, please get in touch with any input that you would like to give or to find out how we can assist you.

On behalf of all of us at the Chamber, we hope  you, your staff and your families enjoyed a safe and happy festive season and wish you well for 2019.

David Steytler,
ACCI President
