The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry is pleased to announce that we have appointed a new CEO. The selection process was rigorous, ensuring that we sourced the best possible candidate on behalf of our members. 24 applications were received which were shortlisted to eight for first round interviews. A final three candidates were then invited to present to the full Executive Committee. The selection panel was comprised of David Steytler (President), Russell Hare (Vice President) and Kerry Fry (Treasurer) of the Chamber, assisted by Andrew Sharpe of the City of Albany and Bruce Manning from the Great Southern Development Commission. Each of the final three applicants were outstanding candidates, all able to perform the role to a high standard. While it was not an easy decision, the Executive Committee unanimously supported the selection of Benita Cattalini as our new CEO.

Benita has worked in high level positions in both state and federal government, as well as in the not for profit community sector and business. Her most recent role was to establish the very successful step-up, step-down mental health service in Albany.  She brings to the Chamber a wealth of knowledge and experience but, most importantly, an inspiring community and personal approach that will ensure that the Chamber is engaging with and supporting our members and key strategic partners to help improve the local economy for the benefit of our region.

Benita moved to the Great Southern in 2017 as part of a long term goal to return to a regional community. She said “I’m delighted to be appointed.”

"In regional areas business is such an important part of the community. Not only is it the life blood of many families, it supports schools, community groups, sports, events, tourism and so much more. I’m really looking forward to working with the team at the Chamber and the Board to keep building what I believe is the most exciting, interesting and beautiful region in WA.”

The Executive Committee and staff of the Chamber are looking forward to working with Benita in this exciting new era to deliver our mission to advocate for Lower Great Southern Business and provide connections to knowledge, support and resources.
