‘Timeless Albany’ Photography Competition

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 ACCI Timeless Albany Photography Competition.

Lex Porebski, whose stunning image "Maritime City" has been selected as the winning photograph and is featured on the front cover of the 2026 ACCI Business and Community Directory.

Renowned photographer Christian Fletcher had the tough job of selecting the winning image, along with two exceptional placegetters.

A fourth standout entry, "Bald Head" by Tobias Ley, was selected by the ACCI Executive Committee. All finalists' photos were provided to Christian, shared from the competition software, with anonymous file names and no photographer's name shown.

The winners are:

1st Place: 'Maritime City' by Lex Porebski

Christian Fletcher, Judge’s comments:I chose this image because it immediately stood out to me.  The early morning light with the golden tones and stunning composition make this a winner. The photographer has captured a moment in time and has given us a glimpse of the timeless land unchanged for millennia, and how we interact with the land. The Silhouette of modern ships adds intrigue whilst the soft focus natural lighting creates a cinematic mood.  Albany is known for its beautiful waterways, and what better way to show it than an amazing sunrise.”

Second Place: 'Before the Crush' by Lex Porebski

Christian Fletcher, Judge’s comments:To me Albany is about its maritime history.  Not only does this photograph hit the brief it is also a striking image.  The sailboat reflected perfectly in the mirror like water under a twilight sky hints of a coming journey and makes you wonder what life was like back in the day of the tall ships and early explorers.  It is technically perfect with a strong  composition.  I like this one a lot.

Third Place: 'Albany 10th Lighthorse' by Lex Porebski

Christian Fletcher, Judge’s comments:The photographer of this image took the time to set up the soldiers that were obviously part of ANZAC day traditions against a building that was typical of architecture of the time. Albany has a Great War time history, and you can begin to imagine what it was like when 30,000 soldiers gathered before heading off to Gallipoli. It fits the brief perfectly and is worthy of a place in the competition.

ACCI Exec. Prize Pic: 'Bald Head Sunrise' by Tobias Ley

ACCI Executive Committee comments: “This beautiful photography of Bald Head depicts the timeless beauty of the Albany landscapes that we are so lucky to experience and call our back yard."

Congratulations to our winners!

We are committed to adapting to the changing times and embracing technology to make the Directory more accessible and user-friendly for all!

So, with this in mind, the online version of the Directory is available in magazine format with clickable links to business’ websites and makes it much more accessible to a wider audience. It’s also convenient for businesses to have their information easily accessible online and downloadable for future reference.

This approach offers the best of both worlds – a tangible book for those who prefer a traditional approach, and an online version for when you’re out and about.

Reducing plastic waste is becoming increasingly important in today's world, as plastic pollution has a significant impact on the environment and wildlife.

By creating a plastic-free Directory, we are not only reducing the amount of plastic waste produced, we are taking important steps towards environmental sustainability. We also hope to set a positive example for other businesses and individuals to follow.
